How about some (-moz-/-webkit-) border-radius:10px; on the #wrapper, so it keeps a bit of it’s Kubrick heritage?

    • Matt Thomas says:

Ahh, but that’s what the grey background was for!

Seriously, though — WordPress will be getting a new default theme on a yearly basis now, so we’ll mix it up in the future. We’re into 90º angles for 2010.

  6. hello Matt,
Twenty Ten is a beautiful theme. Is it available for free download? Park Watershed Revitalization Initiative is working on the North Park Plan. There is not much of a budget for public outreach, and I have managed to extract the website from an expensive difficult CMS system.

Anyway, I have searched for “Twenty Ten” in the WordPress theme downloads, and it is not appearing. Please advise. Of course people are hoping to see the site tomorrow, as in later this morning. Thanks again for creating a beautiful clean site, Mary

    • Matt Thomas says:

Hi Mary — thanks for the kind words. Twenty Ten is available now for download, but you need to be running the bleeding-edge development version of WordPress to use it. If you’re well-versed in maintaining your own WordPress installation and want to give it a go, you certainly can — the WordPress Foundation web site is using it today. Otherwise, I’d suggest waiting until WordPress 3.0 is officially released in the spring.

Once you do decide to start using WordPress 3.0, you’ll find that Twenty Ten is now included with it — no extra download required.

That would be a great Standard Theme for WordPress 3.0! ;) I like it.

But … couldn’t it be a liquid layout?

    • Matt Thomas says:

Sure — but I wanted this to be a great theme for reading. The theme on which it was based, Kirby, set this in motion by choosing the browser-default 16px font size. I tweaked twentyten’s content width to fix a 640px wide movie or image, which I think results in the best balance of space for content and a comfortable line length for readability. Remember that WordPress will be getting a new theme every year now, so as our knowledge of CSS becomes more sophisticated, we can build themes that are, too. :)
